Tips on Walgreens Easy Saver Program
As I mentioned in another entry, the Easy Saver Program is Walgreens' monthly saving booklet that normally starts between the 20th and the 25th of each month, and ends somewhere the same in the next month.
There are 20+ pages of instant coupons, 1-4 free after rebate item offerings, and another 20+ pages of rebates. All can be used during the 1-month period, where you can use the instant coupons again and again, you can only use each rebate once under each household (but of course you can apply another one under another household, say your friend's or your family member's).
You can apply for the rebate easily online at walgreens.com (registeration required) with your receipt #. It takes about 1-2 weeks to process.
There are 3 options on getting the rebates back: (1) new Walgreens giftcard (2) existing Walgreens giftcard (3) check in the mail. The first two options also give you 10% extra on your rebates to encurage you to apply for the giftcard, where you will have to spend the money back to Walgreens. It takes about 3 weeks to receive a new card, so keep the old one handy.
Also note, you can only apply for each month's Easy Saver rebates once but the rebates can be on multiple receipts, so it will be a smart move to keep all your receipts, and apply for the rebates AFTER the offer period ends (Walgreens gives you few days to apply after the offer period ends) just in case you suddenly decide to buy something else.
Another good reason to apply the rebates AFTER the offer period ends is because there are ALWAYS 2 overlapping days where you can combine savings from both months' booklets. The 2 overlapping days are always the last 2 days of the previous/current month and the first 2 days of the current/next month. We call it the "double dipping days". Therefore, it only makes sense to apply the rebates after it ends in case you can "double dip".
However, you will not find the next month's Easy Saver Catalog on Walgreens.com nor in any Walgreens stores until the last catalog actually expires. The good news is you can find anything and everything on the internet, and some insider will always post the new Easy Saver Catalog weeks ahead of time, which I'll be posting as soon as it comes out.
One last thing, remember to save coupons on the items you think you may buy that you see online or on your local Sunday papers. The coupons normally last about a month at least, so you never know when they will come in handy on top of your Walgreens savings.
Walgreens.com often provides a $5 off coupon on purchase of $20/$25 on every or every other Thursady that can only be used on the following Friday and Saturday, so make sure you only go shopping at Walgreens on Fridays or Saturdays. One coupon per purchase, but make sure you print 2 or 3 since you can always make multiple purchases in the 2-day period to fully enjoy the benefit of it (meaning: if you know you will make $40/$50 purchases after all coupons applied, then make 2 trips, and use one $5 off coupon each time, so you save $10 instead of $5. The ideal way will be pay the first $20/$25, put the stuff into the trunk, return to Walgreens, and get the other $20/$25. You get the idea.)
So yah, happy shopping at Walgreens!
